Share Your Awakening Story

The act of sharing one’s story is beneficial for both the storyteller and reader. When one shares their own story, it helps to release the story from being told over and over in the mind. We can share our story and then leave it be, returning again to the present moment. Sharing our stories can also help those who feel alone in their process, or that their awakening is too messy, too hard, not what was expected. There is no one path to awakening, but one commonality for most is that the process can be confusing and difficult at times. When we share our stories and include the warts and moments of darkness we can release our own shame and doubt and enter into our human experience more fully and in community with others.

Let us be cautious though and not get lost among the fingers: These stories aren’t meant to be compared, judged or even exalted.  As Eckhart Tolle wrote, “The finger pointing to the moon is not the moon.” By collecting stories of awakening, we hope to inspire and comfort each other and those just beginning their own process of awakening, but these stories are simply fingers and we must each keep our eyes on the moon.

Below is a suggested guide for what to include in your story, or feel free to submit it however it feels right for you. You can submit your story using the form below, or email lydia@pointtothemoon.com. You can include your name or request your story be published anonymously. If you have a picture of yourself or an image that helped your awakening process, please consider sending that with your story (images can be sent by email only for now).

  4. What were/are your greatest challenges during this process? How did you meet these challenges?

  5. What resources (teachings and practices) have sustained your awakening?

  6. What has changed, for better or worse, for you through your awakening process?

Your story can be a brief overview of your awakening journey, delve deeply into one experience or a combination. Be present with your story and tell it from your heart and it will be perfect.
